RTE tracking the media

RTE on it's election section has an interesting piece on tracking media over the campaign. They describe it as "RTÉ.ie, in collaboration with RTÉ Libraries and Archives and Factiva, will be tracking the media in the final days of the campaign using Web 2.0 technology."



There's lots of graphs showing all sorts from the number of times each party has been mentioned in the last 30 days as shown above, to the issues, to the party leaders, oh there's something for every anorak.

Do check it out, its interesting reading altogether, now I'm away for a closer look.

Statcounter in the Irish Times

THERE was an interesting article in the Irish Times yesterday on Statcounter.

Some of you may not know that one of our favourite statwatching sites is run by a Dubliner, the name Aodhan on the website pointed me in the direction of his Irish-ness.

The article tells us among other things that statcounter has become one of the top 30 visited sites in the States, wow, what an achievement.

And how young is Aodhan and his lovely wife Jenni? Once when statcounter introduced labels and I blogged about it and she responded to the post, a very nice personal touch considering how many emails they must get.

A new visitor - Say hiya to Nanny everyone

I HAVE recently had a new visitor here, someone who I have told to stop by long before now but who never did until recently.

Despite calling my Mum or Nanny, a techno-techno-technophobe, not only has she been stopping by but she managed to comment here on my video of the doggie. Nanny's legs feature near the end of the video as she was the one giving the doggie treats to get her to roll over, obviously the doggie rolls over not Nanny. Ach watch the video on the link and find out for yourself.

So everyone wave hello to Nanny. Hiya Nanny. You know you have a category here all your own, though I think they mostly involve the tidying of the room for your arrival

Mmhh maybe like Ellybabes I can encourage Nanny to blog, the Young Wan has one half-started and exams and the ehm non-studying aside, I'd love her to continue. When it is up and running I'll let you all know.

Now you can label your visitors

Statcounter have released a new feature whereby you can label IP addresses, presuming you know for sure the address is who you think it is.



I noticed it this morning when I logged in and later today I received this email from statcounter explaining the whole deal.

Dear Red Mum,

Excuse us? What's in a name? A whole lot! That's what!

PARTICULARLY when that name can:

- Help you identify click fraudsters
- Make it easier to see when "the competition" has visited your site
- Identify recurring visitors
- Let you see just how many times your mom has been admiring your site...
So no more spreadsheets, no more post-it notes – now you can name IP addresses which visit your site.

- Login to your account.
- Click the stats for your project.
- Click "Recent Visitor Activity"
- Click the new "Label IP Address"
- Give it a description and you're DONE!

This also works for "Recent Pageload Activity", "Visitor Paths" and the "Recent Visitor Map"!

Overheard in Dublin visitors

LISTENING to Ray Darcy on my way to work this morning, they had one of the creators of 'Overheard in Dublin' site talking about the book they are publishing from contributions on the site.

From 9.45am onwards (roughly about the time of the interview) the amount of searches on google.ie for 'overheard in Dublin' leading people to here was startling. Just shows you, all those people in work listening to Ray and googling for the site because he was talking about it. Well thats my analysis of it, there are occasional visitors dropping by here (maybe three or four a week) after searching for that but not 40 in two hours.
