Holy Sunsets Batman
IT SEEMS last night was one of the beautiful evenings where everyone stops, looks at the sky and thinks wow. I was working out in Blanchardstown from late afternoon and once that was all done I was delighted to get a lift back into town around 9pm when the colours in the sky were just popping magnificently.
And lucky me, I was at the Quays with my camera AND my long lens which I don't normally carry. I only took a couple of shots as the light was rapidly going and I was carrying a lot of bags. But I was happy with what I got, the only thing is I need to find the fine line between what I see on my Mac to what the image looks like on a PC and then on top of that on Flickr. The two orange/red silhouette/statue images were more red on my Mac but still and all I am delighted to have managed to capture Superman, Batman and Yer Man in the middle. (Thanks to both Will and Darragh for spotting our Super Heroes.)
The sunset flooding down the Phoenix Park was something else also.
We are really lucky in Ireland to have the beautiful quality of light that we do. There are so many types of light something we can boast about to warmer climes with their stark bright sunshine. We have twilight or the beautiful light after an evening shower, I could go on and on. But last night was particularly beautiful and almost cancelled out all the rain today :)

Raindrops on windows
I DON'T know what it is like where you are but it is absolutely lashing down here, in sheets. I normally hate umbrellas, I really do, but tonight I am happy that I actually brought one in today (I never do).
This is what the evening looks like outside. Yeuck. Unfortunately you cannot hear or feel the wind or see the rain as it comes down in sheets. If I wasn't already delighted to have central heating, nights like this make me even more so.

Some photographs
BETWEEN working, painting and moving I have hadn't time to really blog or take photographs, well except for these three and photographs of the ongoing coverage of the work on the new place (for a future ta da post). So just to show I haven't dropped off the blogosphere here are some pics with an overriding rain theme!

Is it spring yet?
ABOUT two weeks ago I planted a number of bulbs in preparation for our new back yard and next spring. However they have decided not to wait and are coming up all over the place. I suppose I should have moved them from the living room... Soon I'll have snowdrops, daffodils, hyancinths and more. I would have prefered them next spring, how and ever. Does anyone know, will they come back up again in the spring.

Eh did I miss something
Hey when did autumn start and how did I miss it, it must have been while I was sleeping last night.
I am freezing, it doesn't bode well for the winter! But sure I love autumn, season of mists and mellow fruitfulness and all.

Discover Ireland/All these highs and lows
I was watching the excellent Discover Ireland/All these highs and lows ad and thought if only. So here's a little quickly mashed together version with images taken mostly in the last couple of weeks which is probably more true to the actual summer.

Fun in the sun
BELIEVE it or not but there were pockets of sunshine over the weekend. However by the time I arrived in Belfast on Saturday afternoon and we sat in the garden with a bottle of beer, the first drops of rain fell. The rest of the afternoon produced mad showers and warm sunny spells. Sunday on the other hand was beautiful, a real scorcher in Belfast anyway.
So just to prove that yes indeed the sun did show its face at some stages over the weekend, here's some fun in the sun shots.

Eh strike that
Eh, strike what I just said...
"its raining now and there are lovely green smells coming in the window, my window boxes are also getting a great watering and every now and again people walk past on their way home. Sometimes they stop under the tree in the picture below for shelter before continuing on home. But as rain goes the sprinkling this evening is nothing compared to the drenching we have been at the receiving end of recently."
It is absolutely lashing down now. Lashing, in sheets.

Typical
IT WAS a typical Sunday, relaxing with the papers, a lovely fire on, Eastenders on the telly, and just as I was about to send the Young Wan to the shops the sky went dark then:
Well at least it didn't happen yesterday during the Paddy's Day parade. Bbbrrrrrr.
